I've been to Kokki multiple times with family and friends, and it's always a solid experience. Located in a convenient plaza with plenty of parking, it's easy to get to. Ambiance: 4 /5 Classic Korean restaurant vibes with lots of grills for all you can eat KBBQ and tables on the side for ordering individual dishes. K-pop music videos playing on the TVs add to the atmosphere. Service: 4/5 Service is usually friendly, though on rare occasions, an employee might seem a bit unenthusiastic. Food: 4.5/5 This time, we skipped the KBBQ and ordered à la carte: Cheese Corn: Always a favorite! So warm, cheesy, and satisfying. Seolleongtang (Ox Bone Soup): Perfect for a chilly day or a hangover. It's warm, hearty, and just right in flavor. Their KBBQ is one of the best in Portland--great prices and cuts of meat. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area
We usually do the AYCE premium option, which is the best option to go if you like the short ribs. Sometimes the Bandhan is lacking, their kimchi is not spicy and pretty flavorless, the service is on and off. We finally just tried their regular entree dinner and I loved it. The spicy pork belly and squid is my favorite. The seafood pancake was delicious, thin and crispy, some places put too much batter. The rice cake/ fish cake dish was yummy as well. Also the tofu soup was so good because it did have a little spice too it.
Five stars for the amazing servers and service. Super friendly, attentive despite an increasingly busier dining room, and very helpful. As an example, I accidentally dropped my chopsticks at one point, and literally within seconds another server with her own row of tables to attend to was on the spot with a clean pair! Food was good and unpretentious, offered in a friendly/familiar homestyle family dining presentation. The Banchan was initially a bit sparse (understandable to cut down on waste), but plentiful on request. We ordered a few sides of mandu (pot stickers), plain pajeon (scallion pancake) and chicken gangjeong (the "original KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) to pad things out. There's a 2 hour time and 4x protein ingredients per offering on the AYCE grill items. Refills came so quickly that we only hit the 1-1/2 hour mark before my table full of teenage athletes were done! Bulgogi offerings were outstanding. Chicken does require using the supplied shears to cut down to size. Pork belly buttery smooth. Never got a chance to dip into the shrimp offerings, but that gives us a good reason to go back. Overall ambiance again was friendly, homestyle, and put you immediately at ease. Very clean, and it's the attention to the little details that really sells you on the place. After a couple of rounds of proteins, they would swap out our grill surface for a clean one lest the lovely carmelization burn and turn butter. The floors were spotless during the start of the dinner rush and the entire time we were there. I've been to other Korean style BBQs where the longer you linger (especially if you're not buying rounds of Soju at the same time) you start feeling pressured to move on as your offered portions get less and your server is noticeably scarce. We never felt any of that at any time. Highly recommend and looking forward to taking friends there.
This KBBQ restaurant delivers a solid dining experience. The ambience is lively and perfect for a group outing. The food is fresh and flavorful, with a great variety of meats and side dishes to choose from. One downside, however, was that they didn't have fish cakes, which was a bit disappointing. As for the service, it was attentive without being overbearing; the staff made sure our grills were changed regularly and kept everything running smoothly. Despite the small letdown, it's a great place for a fun and delicious KBBQ night!
We really like this spot for Korean bbq we often feel greasy and gross after Korean bbq but this spot didn't leave us feeling that way after! We got the standard all you can eat package and the service was nice and efficient!
The regular all you can eat is great! The beef and pork bolgogi is amazing, and the service was good as well. They offered to change the grill consistently and were overall nice and helpful. Pretty good price too, a decent bit cheaper compared to other KBBQ places I've been to.
If you're a fan of Korean BBQ, Kkoki is an absolute must-visit in SE Portland. The short ribs, beef brisket, bulgogi, and pork belly are standout dishes. Each cut is seasoned and you get to cook it yourself on the grill to your liking, and the meat quality is not too bad. The grilling experience is interactive and fun, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal. The ALYCE package also comes with rice, lettuce, and sauces like ponzu, salt and sesame oil, and samjang. The ambiance is lively, enhanced by Korean music that sets the perfect backdrop for a great dining experience. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure your grill is always ready and your needs are promptly met. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, contributing to a pleasant and comfortable dining environment with booth seats! If you're looking for a place that offers both fantastic food and a great time with family or friends, Kkoki Korean BBQ is definitely worth checking out!
Staff were so attentive. The food was delicious! My first time having beef cheeks. Soooo yummy! It's very spacious inside and if I lived in the East side I would come here weekly! Great for big groups!! Meat quality is great! Come with empty stomach and get ready to eat! :)
